A Novel Sliding-Discrete-Control-Set Modulated Model Predictive Control for Modular Multilevel Converter

Model predictive control (MPC) method has been recognized as one of the most promising technologies for modular multilevel converter (MMC) due to fast dynamic response and its simple realization. However, conventional finite set (FCS) MPC methods MMC are facing some challenges, such high computation burden, poor steady-state performance, dependence on weighting factors, variable switching frequency. In order solve these problems, a novel sliding-discrete-control-set (SDCS) modulated (MMPC) is proposed in this paper. Based adaptive search step output current control, only three sets evaluated each period. addition, independent circulating controller applied MMPC method. With controller, currents well regulated, arm capacitor voltage balancing realized by injection. As result, there no factor involved Compared with methods, obtains fixed frequency submodule (SM) low comparable burden. Simulation experimental results verify effectiveness
